So, I was tagged for the What’s on your MP3 player? meme by the lovely Helloitsgemma and Five Go Blogging (click the links to check out what their iPods have thrown up). Thanks for thinking of me dudes.
Actually, when I saw this meme I thought great, no thought involved, just shuffle, post and publish. And right now this meets the criteria for bloggable content at Bibsey Towers. Or so I thought.
You see even when all decision making is taken out of my hands by the power of the shuffle (and I think that I have blogged before about the terror I have for choosing music (or food) for other people – please never put me in charge of the music (or the menu) at a party. Never. I will curl up and die. Well, sort of) I have still managed to procrastinate about posting. You know… finding the right video on YouTube. Finding the right words to excuse myself. And generally trying to second guess how the great Musically Sophisticated will judge me… you see it is just like being back at the party and in charge of the music…
But here goes anyway. Unretouched. The first five tunes to shuffle off my iPod are:
God Put a Smile on Your Face – Mark Ronson Feat. The Daptone Horns from Version
Verdict: No shame here. I love this. I love the whole album and I used to march around Shorditch and Clerkenwell to this in a previous life. Good memories.
The Prodigy – Breathe from The Fat of the Land
Verdict: Erm. I guess I would urge my Mum not to watch this video. At least it’s not Smack My Bitch Up. And I do have some very special memories of dancing to The Prodigy on a podium (or was it a speaker) with a friend (the great and good Red Leader) at a party in Bali circa 1997.
Judy Garland – Somewhere over the Rainbow
Verdict: “Judy, Judy, Judy” in my very best Cary Grant accent (although I now read that he never actually uttered those words in any film). This was part of a bedtime playlist for Bibsey when she was a very little person, so I guess that it will always bring back memories.

Migration – Nitin Sawhney from Hotel Costes 1
Verdict: This is a nice change of pace after The Prodigy, non?
Sunset (Bird of Prey) – Fatboy Slim from Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars
Verdict: Gosh, this is the second time that I have bunged up a link to Fatboy Slim in one week. Weird. And a little unrepresentative. But such is the wonder of the shuffle.

This meme was started by Seasider in the city. Anyone reading please feel free to join in on your blogs or in the comments, but just to keep the ball rolling I am going to tag the gorgeous writer, redhead, mother of nearly three, and new(ish) blogger PMatijmuses. I would go on, but I am propping up a sleeping toddler with my left arm… and well, I can’t go on. You understand. xxx
