OK, so I am a day late with W. Who can honestly say that they had noticed? Who can honestly say that they cared? Except perhaps my partner in alphabetical crime: the funny and clever Lady Lemons (not what she calls herself btw) over at Losing My Lemons. I love her. Although it was I that dragged her into this alphabetical odyssey, it is she that has dragged me through it. Thanks love.
Why? Why am I late? Because I was working yesterday (this is new) and and and then I went out for an evening with the girls (this is almost unheard of these days). So you will forgive me for letting the all important, essential to your inbox, vital to the spin of the earth on her axis, alphabetically ordered, blog post of utter pointlessness slide.
Yes, I had a new client yesterday. She found me via my new website, which is ranking beautifully by the way, and the job went well. Really well, and I am proud of myself and feel like I have really begun. I tried to begin again in the Autumn, but then I broke my arm. Which was a real scupper. Some of you may know, but others may not, that I am a massage therapist (by day, Shakespearean actress by night, obvs) and a broken arm is a bit of a kick in the teeth, metaphorically speaking, when your arms are your tools.
I have had so much help and encouragement from friends. Thank you lovely people. Cake and marmalade await you all.
It has taken me three years to get back to work. But it feels right that things have happened the way that they have. I am not saying that we couldn’t have done with extra money before now. But I think that in the end the pace of things has just matched what Bibsey has needed. I can work now because there is a natural space for it. And when she starts school in September I should be well under way.
I do know that everybody’s circumstances and story are different. I would love to hear about your experiences of getting back to work after having a child.
Now, I am going to leave you with a clip from Working Girl… But first I want you to enjoy the glory of Dolly in 9 to 5…
And then the further glory of 2 Many DJ’s mixing Dolly with Royksopp back in my day. This was a muscial moment for me.
And finally, do you remember this line? “I have a head for business and a body for sin”

Hahahahahaha. Hahahahaha. This is soooo the line I have always used in business meetings. It worked every time.Hahahahahahaaaaa cough cough choke.
