This is the first time that I have linked up with Reasons to be Cheerful 1, 2, 3 over at Mummy From the Heart. Generally speaking I have always got a lot to be cheerful about, but I am linking up this week because, despite a few challenges recently, I have to say that life this mild Andalucían November has been kind of sweet. Here they are, my Reasons to be Cheerful 1, 2, 3…
1. I have had a reason to walk up the hill to the village three times a week to go to see the nurse to have my arm redressed. All being well, today was the last day. My staples are out and I am even allowed to get the wound wet in a couple of days… this means a welcome return to basic personal hygiene people. And it couldn’t come a moment too soon.
Every morning that I have had to walk up the weather has been beautiful. Mild bright November mornings. I have enjoyed the fresh air and the beautiful views down to the sea and into the valley where people are currently burning their autumn bonfires (with permission of course). Stunning. And time to myself.
Three trips a week up the hill? It can’t have done my arse any harm either. So there’s two reasons to be cheerful for the price of one right there.
2. Since dropping myself on the cold hard tile in the wee small hours, and breaking my bloody arm, I have only been able to tease my barely-brushed, hardly-washed hair into one style. The truth is that had it not been for the devil driving, needs most definitely would not have must, and I would never ever entertained wearing my hair in a kind of mussed-up, low slung side bun. Yes, that’s right. I have the hairdo of a teenager… although my roots are still flying the salt and pepper flag of middle age. Check me out…
3. Sorry, but I am sticking with the reasons to be cheerful about my broken arm here.
There ain’t nothing wrong with my legs. I broke my ankle once when I was in India. Now that was a challenge about which, with permission from my friend (who incidentally gave me the gorgeous scarf for my birthday – who knew it would be so useful?), and erstwhile partner in crime, I will be writing some more soon.
